Can You Extend Without Planning Permission?

Not every home extension requires a planning application. Some projects can be carried out under Permitted Development rights, provided they remain within specific limits and meet all the relevant conditions.

Whether these rights apply depends on the property, its planning history, location and the work being proposed. Checking this at the outset helps establish the correct route—and whether a Lawful Development Certificate would be advisable before construction begins.
